MasterChef US Season 3 contestants

MasterChef US Season 3 aired June 04 to September 10, 2012 on Fox Network.

There were 18 contestants and the prize for the winner was $250,000, their own cookbook and a MasterChef trophy.

MasterChef US season 3 features MasterChef judges Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich testing the culinary skills of amateur chefs from the USA.

They undertake a number of challenges and dishes to prepare, with those failing to impress being sent home.


Anna Rossi Anna Rossi was a Pharmaceutical sales rep from Boston, Massachusetts.

She was eliminated in episode 9 due to her under cooked tortellini.

After MasterChef, Anna became a food writer and blogger and had recipes published in the MasterChef cookbook.

She also created recipes for publications including Cosmopolitan and PRIME.

Anna was a television cook appearing on Boston morning television.

She has done cookery demonstrations and was a spokesperson for Olivio and Private Chef for large clients.

Anna is currently a host on NBC Boston's The Hub, a daytime television television show.


Christine Ha Christine Hà was a student from Houston, Texas.

Christine was the MasterChef Season 3 winner due to her menu in the final.

After MasterChef, Christine Ha's cookbook Recipes from My Home Kitchen: Asian and American Comfort Food was published.

She offered private chef services, is a brand ambassador and a food blogger.

Christine co-hosts a television show Four Senses, a cookery programme for those with visual impairments.

She judged MasterChef Vietnam and appeared on MasterChef US.

In 2014, she received the Helen Keller Personal Achievement Award.

Christine opened her first restaurant The Blind Goat in Houston in July 2019.

She opened second restaurant Xin Chao with Tony J. Nguyen in 2020 before leaving in 2023.

In 2023, she opened Stuffed Belly, a drive-thru sandwich shop.


Dave Mack Dave Mack worked in caviar sales and was from Davie, Florida.

He was eliminated in episode 4 after he failed to clean the mushrooms.

After MasterChef, Dave continued to blog for a few years and he briefly returned to sales.

Dave became an events chef, catering a number of cookery events all over America.

He owns private catering company savorhous.

Dave is also Director Of Product Development at Tastebuds Foodservice.


David Martinez David Martinez was an Educational Administrator from Chicago, Illinois.

He was eliminated in episode 16 after a steak cooking challenge.

After MasterChef, David launched a private dining company.

He returning to college to study for a doctorate at Arizona State in Educational finance.

David is currently an Assistant Professor.


Felix Fang Felix Fang was a Food Runner from Hollywood, California.

She was eliminated in episode 15 after her bizarre corn profiteroles failed to impress the judges.

After MasterChef, Felix hosted an online web series on Vice.

She was a private chef catering events.

Felix is currently working as an actress.


Frank Mirando Frank Mirando was a Stockbroker from Holbrook, New York.

He was eliminated in episode 18 after losing in a souffle challenge when only his cheese souffle impressed the judges.

After MasterChef, Frank returned to a career in Wealth Management but still has an interest in cooking.

He has done a number of charity cookery events.

Frank also shares recipes and food pics on his social media accounts.


Helene Leeds Helene Leeds was a Health Coach and former model from Baldwin, Maryland.

She was eliminated in episode 6 after her crab soup failed to impress the judges.

After MasterChef, Helene returned to her previous career as a Health Coach and a life coach.

She also did a number of cookery demonstrations and cookery events.


Josh Marks Josh Marks was an Army Contract Specialist from Jackson, Mississippi.

He was eliminated in episode 12.

He returned in episode 14 after winning the special episode and was the runner up of MasterChef season 3.

After MasterChef, Josh sadly died by suicide in October 2013 after a battle with mental illness.

He had been involved in a car accident and placed in a psychiatric hold prior to his death.

Josh had received the diagnosis that he was bipolar and was suffering from psychotic episodes.


Mairym Monti Carlo Mairym Monti Carlo was a Homemaker from Los Angeles, California.

She was eliminated in episode 17 after her White Tuna Sashimi dish fails to impress.

After MasterChef, Mairym became a TV judge on a number of Food Network shows.

She is a Radio host, food blogger, public speaker, brand spokesperson, does voice overs and is a charity ambassador.

Mairym currently hosts Food Network’s Help My Yelp, a show to turn around restaurants that have received poor Yelp reviews.


Mike Hill Mike Hill was a Contractor from Powder Springs, Georgia.

He was eliminated in episode 10 after his stone baked lobster failed to impress.

After MasterChef, Mike released his own range of spice rubs.

Mike has a YouTube channel Game Table TV, focusing on hunting, food and also features his family.


Michael Chen Michael Chen was a Meteorology student from Austin, Texas.

He was eliminated in episode 5 after putting cheese into his apple pie crust.

After MasterChef, Michael dropped out of college and travelled, gaining experience in kitchens in both Canada and the USA.

He became head chef at The Kessler.

He has continued to travel worldwide sharing delicious food pics on his Insta.

Michael married his partner Robert in July 2019.


Becky Reams Becky Reams was a Food Photographer from Stilwell, Kansas.

She was eliminated in episode 19 after her frog legs dish failed to impress.

After MasterChef, Becky returned to food photography.

She opened her own catering and Private Chef company Bang Bang Brunch.

She later ditched the company name and is offering personal chef services, cooking classes and event catering.


Ryan Umane Ryan Umane was unemployed and from New York City.

He was eliminated in episode 7 after Gordon asked Ryan or Tali to give up their place and he gave up his jacket.

After MasterChef, Ryan started catering company Flavor Elevator Inc.

Ryan is also a real estate agent.


Samantha De Silva Samantha De Silva was a Design Consultant from Miami, Florida.

She was eliminated in episode 4 after her duck dish failed to impress.

After Masterchef, Samantha is a chef and Director of Kintsugi Culinary Retreat.

Samantha is also a hospitality and restaurant consultant.


Scott Little Scott Little was an Interactive Producer from Annandale, Virginia.

He was eliminated in episode 8 after his strawberry shortcake failed to impress the judges.

After MasterChef, Scott co-owned catering company The Comfortable Dish until 2013.

Scott was a Production Manager at AKQA and later Director of Creative Services at Authentic.

He is currently a freelance lead producer.


Stacey Amagrande Stacey Amagrande was a Market Manager from Apple Valley, California.

She was eliminated in episode 13 after her Japanese sampler failed to impress the judges.

After MasterChef, Stacey became Executive Chef at 7th Heaven Cafe, which closed in October 2015.

She worked at a farmers market before later becoming Executive Chef at Desert Barn Brewery.

Stacey is currently a chef for private chef company Rainbow Chef Services.


Tali Clavijo Tali Clavijo was a Musician from Chicago, Illinois.

He was eliminated in episode 11 after his arctic char dish failed to impress.

After MasterChef, Tali continued to cook but not professionally and is still a musician.

He was a recruiter for a tech start up company Wag Labs Inc before joining Lucky Day as Head of Talent.

Tali is currently a Recruiter at Edify.


Tanya Noble Tanya Noble was a student from Austin, Texas.

She was eliminated in episode 10 after her dough and garlic were raw in her dish.

After MasterChef, Tanya moved to Australia and studied cookery and hospitality.

She has worked in a number of restaurant and events roles and was a restaurant consultant.

Tanya is an aspiring presenter and has a profile on StarNow.

She is currently a personal chef.

  6. It's the final 4 contestants of Mssterchef Season 3 showing currently in South Africa... It is absolutely heartbreaking to watch Josh and know that he has sadly passed away. What a talented, sweet young man. Such a loss. Rest in eternal peace Josh xx

  8. I have been binging on this show with Christine blowing me away with her abilities I really did break my heart to find out that young man took his own life when he seems to be such a wonderful person rest in peace how sad is that

  10. Why are so many contestants rude and disrespectful to others? The constant criticism of others is tiresome. I watched some of season 3, but probably won’t watch other seasons. Too much disrespect in this world and this show contributes to it. If the producers are egging them on, all the more reason to not watch it.

  11. I, like others, am heartbroken to hear about Josh’s loss to mental illness. I’m proud and grateful to have gotten to know such a resilient young man, even if it was through a screen. Congratulations Christine. You were not just a class act as a chef, you’re also a classy human.
